CORBRIDGE MISSION WEEKEND
At Corbridge our Mission Weekend this year focussed on Mission Aviation Fellowship, a long-established charity operating in inaccessible parts of the world. It uses small planes to fly help and healing where there are no roads, and to bring the Gospel to isolated people.
MAF local ambassador, Chris Million, brought his model plane and a stall of information to the Saturday Coffee Morning, which was really well-attended by people from around the village and the Circuit. Chris had the joy himself of meeting some long-term MAF supporters who had lived in some of the countries he spoke about, and who shared their experiences with him.
The Sunday morning service, led by church members, included a central presentation by Chris, giving a comprehensive visual account of the work of this Christian charity, and encouraging our support. He explained that the pilots, as well as being prayer-leaders and preachers, have to undergo lengthy retraining to teach them how to fly these small planes without instruments, by sight only in wild places, and to land them on roughly-mown, bumpy airstrips! They are then able to bring in essential supplies, fly sick people to hospital and transport missionaries.
Thanks to the wonderful support of friends who joined us on both days, we have been able to make our contribution, in money and in prayer, to the continued and valuable work of Mission Aviation Fellowship.
