Churches Together notice – Ukraine

You will remember that there was a good response some months ago from the people of Hexham and neighbouring towns and villages to an appeal to provide a home for people fleeing the invasion of Ukraine.

That was almost six months ago. Some received independent accommodation and some were incorporated into local family homes. It is this latter group that is the reason for this message. Some families may be able to extend their hospitality for a further six months, but some may not be able to do this.

This is an appeal for any family who could provide hospitality for six months from January 2023. The advantage to hosts this time would be that they could meet the single person (usually a woman) or mother and child beforehand without the complications of phone calls, Zoom links etc. to Poland or Ukraine.

If you think that this is something you or your family could do, then please get in touch with your Churches Together Rep or Rosemary Theobalds (r.theobalds80@gmail.com) or with Shirley Chambers who is dealing with the practicalities. (shirleychambers1948@yahoo.co.uk. Thank you.
