ONE of the circuit's popular figures is set to receive a special honour later today.
Supernumerary Minister the Rev. Tony Buglass will be presented with a Certificate of Meritorious Service in a ceremony which will be streamed online at 7pm.
It will see Tony acknowledged for his work as Hexham ATC squadron chaplain during the pandemic.
He has continued to maintain contact with the squadron despite the challenges posed by three lockdowns.
This has included creative use of the Squadron's Facebook page to post quizzes, jokes, and the occasional padre's message to maintain vital links with the cadets.
Tony said he was honoured to be a recipient for one of the prestigious awards, which will be presented by the Duchess of Northumberland.
As well as handing out the Certificate of Meritorious Service to Tony and other recipients, the Duchess will also appoint her Lord Lieutenant's Cadets.
Tony added: "It all came right out of the blue – a lovely surprise! There are a number of recipients, mainly uniformed staff, and I'm the only chaplain."
